If you’re not Kim K and have your own army of butlers, then throwing a house warming party can get particularly stressful, especially if you weigh in the fact that you just moved into your new living space. However, today we’ll share with you amazing tips on how you can throw a decadent and elegant house warming party, without racking up some major expense or getting overly worked up.

1.      Get Settled- And pace yourself

Yes, we all are literally dying to show-off our new home, but settle in first and let the storm pass. Being mentally and physically ready is key before throwing a housewarming party. Remember that you need to make your guests feel comfortable in your new space so allow yourself some time to settle in, get the essentials, unpack, and then proceed on making any party plans.

2.      KISS- Keep it simple silly (yes, we just made up this acronym)

Remember this rule as we move forward. You don’t need to have each and every nook and cranny of your home perfectly refurbished and decorated in order to throw a house warming party. Just make sure that the essential space, such as the living room and kitchen is prepped and clean as those are the only spaces where you’ll be entertaining your guests most of the time. Besides, it's unrealistic to have your entire home decked out immediately after moving in as settling down is a cumbersome and long-winding process that takes months.

Furthermore, incorporate this rule into everything from your e-invites to your food (hors d’oeuvres, main course, and dessert). An elegant party doesn’t always require spending a grand. A simplistic homecooked meal can be warm and absolutely lovely as long as it has unique and personalized elements that come off as thoughtful. So, think simple DIY food that you can easily make at home and ditch the store-bought/ fancy pre-made stuff. Although, this may be an easier option in case you’re unfamiliar with the stove.

3.      Décor- Less is more

Take a queue from every fashion and interior design magazine ever. Instead of cluttering your countertops and centerpieces that’ll only require more work and effort to organize and then clean, opt for minimalistic arrangements that tie the room together. Some flowers, candles, neutral-colored decoration pieces would make any room easily come to life. You can check out this awesome Pinterest page to get more décor ideas on centerpieces.

4.      Register- Be well-prepped for what you need

Whether you’re comfortable putting up your registry on your invites or not, always register. In case anyone specifically asks where you’re registered, being prepared will allow you to guide your guests into getting what you need to settle into your new home. More importantly, it will save you the hassle of returning gifts that you don’t need for store credit or cash. It’ll also save you from getting duplicates. Thus, be smart and register. You can use an online gift registry website.

5.      Give a Tour- If you’ve got it, flaunt it

Show your home to your guests because hey, that’s what they came for. Even if your home isn’t picture perfect ready, everyone understands that you just moved in, so they don’t expect each and every fixture perfectly in place, to begin with. What gets really annoying is when hosts refuse the complete home tour because they feel insecure or hesitant. Let’s get real, moving into a new living space is an accomplishment in itself and despite whatever standards you may have, you should feel confident and proud of your new living space. You can always map out which parts of the house to avoid, but don’t outrightly confine your guests to just a few rooms.

6.      Thankyou cards- Gracias Amigos

A warm personalized thank you note will definitely go a long way in expressing your sincere gratitude to your guests for their attendance and gifts. Although hand-written cards take time, they definitely hit the mark on delivery. Thankyou cards are the last impression. And remember, last impressions are lasting impressions. So, get to it!
