The coronavirus pandemic has forced most of the world to remain at home, the people who once envied their lucky coworkers who got to hold meeting calls in their pajamas are the same people learning the hard way that working from home isn't always so convenient!

People are worried about how to maintain concentration and productivity? And how do you keep your job and personal lives separate?

There are ways to make the most of it and remain positive. Here are a few pointers to help you get your workspace up and running and looking fantastic.

Location Is Important:

You'll be spending a lot of time in your home office, so wherever you put it, make sure it feels like a dedicated and practical workplace. I understand how tempting it is to send a few emails on your phone without getting out of bed but setting up your desk in a space with sufficient lighting, a comfortable chair, and a smooth tech system without fiddling with plugs or wires. Try choosing a spot with minimal household traffic and can be quiet by a closed door.

Create a set place to get the office work done, otherwise, your entire home can begin to feel like your home office, making it extremely difficult to function efficiently.

Stick To The Schedule:

It is much more exhausting mentally, physically, and emotionally to be without a routine than it is to have one. Setting a schedule not only gives you your day order but most importantly keeps you focused. Wake up, get dressed, have your favorite breakfast, and start ticking off your daily task. Once you get caught up in the pit of working odd hours, there is no going back. It's really easy to fall for that trap and gradually it becomes difficult to differentiate between work and home.

Your home office isn't much different from the workplace, you will never be able to complete everything. You have to leave work at some point to continue it the next day. So, no matter what the deadlines are, try to sign off from work at 5 p.m or a reasonable set time.

A Tidy Space Equals A Tidy Mind:

Working from home has several advantages, one of which is the fact that it is your home. Nobody has the authority to tell you what to do. Nobody is judging you based on the state of your workspace, but your mind begins to imitate the physical space you reside in. If you are continually surrounded by an excessive amount of clutter the clutter's visual distraction creates cognitive overload and can affect your mind's performance.

Take a close look at your office setup and make a note of what's clogging up your workspace. Put away the things that you don't need and keep the things you need constant access to close at hand. Keep clutter to a minimum. You may find that you work best with just your computer, one pen, and only a notepad on your table. The sensation of having a clean desk is energizing and on occasion inspiring. Once the desk is tidy, you can concentrate better and the job will get done!

Make A To-Do List:

Using a list to coordinate your tasks will help you feel more focused and in charge of your life. Many say that it is best to make a list of “6 most 1 vital”. Write down 6 important things to accomplish for the week with accomplishing 1 absolutely necessary accomplishment for the week. If you follow this each week you will find yourself extremely productive. You will feel and be more organized and emotionally concentrated if you continue to cross off completed tasks and outline your next tasks. You will be able to prioritize more important tasks instead of wasting time on trivial activities. Poor task management makes 90% of managers waste valuable time according to the study conducted by Harvard Business Review.

So, jot down the lists of your tasks and get it done, you will feel more motivated and you will be more clear about your daily goals.

Schedule Breaks:

While it can be tempting to work nonstop, the brain, like any other muscle, requires rest. It is recommended that you take short breaks. Most of us turn to social media for a while or catch up to some Tv show on the couch. However, you can make your breaks more productive by reading articles for inspiration. Or even taking a stroll around the block can be a more effective way to recharge your battery.

You'll be back to work in no time if you time your breaks correctly, and you will feel more refreshed. Make sure your short interval is not so quick or not too long to cause inefficiency.

Remember to enjoy your time and flexibility working from home.
